    This lens was a bit of a mass produced kit lens in it's time and while build quality is not Terrible, it can be seen where money was saved on materials. where and why this lens shines is in the exceptional glass and spectacular coatings. MINOLTA, in their day, were constructing some of the most incredible lenses from Glass formulas they engineered and mixed in house for it's refractive properties they were always developing and experimenting with coatings as well. These lenses, while housed with less notable plastic components, contain exceptional elements made from outstanding glass with beautiful coatings, colours, contrast clarity and sharpness are all Stellar from this lens, much better than I would expect from a casual glance. closer inspection of a clean copy of this lens will peek interest from anyone with experience shooting vintage glass with exceptional coatings. I have quite a few lenses of exceptional reputation and regard with much better build quality and world renowned performance, a few of them earlier Rokkors as well, but this is a lens I will always keep around, it punches way above it's weight class, I shouldn't say it surprises me given where it comes from but it did the first time I looked through this lens mounted on a mirrorless camera.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ 3 години тому

      it is still better build than most of lenses today

    • @bigshooter461
      @bigshooter461 2 години тому

      @@PavSZ I would agree it's built better than Many, maybe not Most. Build quality today is really good even for a lot of the crappy lenses out there. Most of the Cad designs are really sharp with less aberrations great contrast, I find most modern lense toady are simply too sharp, too clean just too clinical, that is great sometimes. it's just not as evocative

    Hello, from ur experience, I wanted to ask u about bokeh comparison in sigma 85mm f1.4 lens on both apsc and full frame, which camera will result in more bokeh? I know that full frame is better in bokeh but considering the compression we get from the crop factor on apsc in the 85mm distance will that result in more bokeh than using it in full frame body?

      @PavSZ 3 дні тому

      there will be very small difference in bokeh, if any, between full frame and APS-C. There will be very small difference in depth of field but I don't think that would affect or change the quality of photos this lens can produce. Bokeh is not everything

    Among the best videos, honest and direct on this material, because you do not hesitate to highlight the possible negative points (shutter speed/frame rate, recording indicator, lens capacity...). The additional information in the comments is a big plus. Convinced user and lover of Panasonic (Lumix S1 + cinema lenses) I was already also convinced by this equipment, with its HLG and Vlog capacity added to the HC-X20, to "approach" a kinematic mode for calibration with a dedicated box on the ground, and which seems really perfect to me. Your video is really very nice and very informative. Simple and honest, a pleasure to hear from you. Whether it's Sony or Canon, which are also very good equipment, when you make your mark with a manufacturer it's almost a marriage for life. PANASONIC is a little marvel of rendering and stabilization, with comfortable menus. The 3 rings + ND filters make this equipment undoubtedly the good field camera to have. A fan of V-Log, now I'm going to try to dig into the information on this specificity, with a 15mp sensor vs 24mp of the LUMIX S1/S1H. Very good video, thank you and PANASONIC can thank you

    Thank you for the video. I currently have the SIGMA 18-50 and VILTROX 27mm lenses, and I'm considering a longer focal length, mainly for photography. The 18-300mm and Sony 70-350mm are on my radar. I'm drawn to the convenience of the 18-300mm, but the online reviews are mixed, with some saying the image quality is poor. The Sony 70-350mm seems to have more positive feedback. Is the image quality of the 18-300mm really that much worse that it's worth giving up the convenience? In my opinion, the 18-300mm may still be the more suitable option, but I'd appreciate your thoughts. Thank you for your time.

      @@PavSZ Fuji x T30ii. I have the 18-55 kit lens and 27mm and 55-200 mm fuji lens. They all change F-stop numbers on the screen when i use the button I set for F stop or the aperture ring on fuji lens. so i don't think it's the camera. Would it be too much to ask if you could kindly use your lens and record what it shows on the screen when you use your aperture dial vs button on the camera. It'd be a lot. It's still 2nd day. I have 28 more days to return it but if you could do a demo or something, that would be awesome!

      @@TheTrippleTKA I do not own this lens or Fuji T30II to check this but it might not be the lens. Fuji lenses have aperture ring and this hasn't. There will be some setting in T30II that prevents you from changing the aperture with this lens. Very hard to advise without actually having the lens, camera and the same problem here

    How does it fair on a full-frame mirrorless? Is it worth getting for something like the R5 or is one best waiting it out.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ 5 днів тому

      It's not a lens for full frame cameras. It's gonna be OK but you are going to loose half of resolution shooting in APS-C crop. It will do well for video, no loss of resolution but crop

    I would love to know, now that the V-AF 45mm has been out, which one you would favour, that or the slightly older Samyang 50 mm mark II? I can't decide between the two.

    • @PavSZ
      @PavSZ 8 днів тому

      V-AF lenses are different. These a cinema lenses that are not directly comparable to their standard lens. They have totally different purpose and make the most sense if used together as a set. Also it is very hard to advise anyone which camera or a lens to choose. There is too many factors that only you know: budget, experience, what you are going to be using it for etc. Only you can decide. Do your research and make the choice

      @@PavSZ Tks... There is some theory that the swirl comes from the diference between electronic shutter and the mechanical curtain in very high speeds, but with the max speed of a6600 of 1/4000, I'm certain that's not the case. It's for sure a swirl bokeh lens characteristic
